The Spiez Castle Foundation has owned and maintained the castle complex, including the castle, Romanesque church and garden, since 1927. It also makes the grounds accessible and presents the stories and people associated with the site in an interactive and contextualised way in the castle museum. Events and specially developed programmes convey history and culture to various audiences. Spiez Castle is also known for its small and exquisite art exhibitions.
"The purpose of the foundation is
1. to maintain the properties it has acquired and the buildings on them (castle, new castle, castle church, old vicarage, "Le Roselier" house, orangery and fortifications) in good structural condition, to restore them as far as necessary in conjunction with the state monument preservation authorities and the archaeological service, and to take into account the national significance of the entire complex as an architectural monument and historical site,
2. to make the castle and castle church accessible to the public in an appropriate manner and to make them available to third parties for events appropriate to their character,
3. to ensure the protection of the surroundings of the entire complex wherever possible."
The Spiez Castle Foundation is tax-exempt.
